From land to sea and back

An invitation to wander, pause and reconnect

Our joint exhibition, From Land to Sea and Back, will serve as an artistic dialogue, between the two of us, Wendy Mc Carroll-Sandeman and myself, —exploring how each of us interprets the abstraction of our everyday landscapes in our own way, while also highlighting the connection between land and sea: my landscapes of mountains, rock, and ice alongside Wendy’s seascapes.

Here is a selection of the works displayed at Pop-up Stoodio, , Thistle st., Edinburgh, as part of the ‘From Land to Sea and Back’ exhibition.

Often, as I work, words come to me—short, evocative poems akin to haikus. The poetry of these words permeates my colors and compositions.

As with a haiku, I aim to convey emotion and the fleeting nature of a moment using a minimal number of elements, believing that elegance reveals itself through such restraint of expression.

The Secret place

The secret place waits,

remember the wind

Acrylic on cradle wood panel, 50 × 50 cm - 2026

oak wood frame, ready to hang - £720

My feet still touch earth,
the sky remembers the wind —
something in me lifts.

Bursting with vibrant colors, my new collection of small paintings evokes the striking contrasts of our summer, as well as the freshness and serenity found in the mountains—in close contact with nature and the elements.

In summer, the air is vibrant with heat. Colors blaze.

These paintings, in a vibrant palette of orange-yellow, pink and turquoise, were created to bring joy simply by looking at them.
